Oh, Pierre Montheillet. How your work will forever hold a special place in my heart and mind. 
This Lyrical Abstract Expressionist oil painting on stretched canvas, circa 1950s, is truly a beautiful work of art that would look amazing on any wall color. The color palette is somehow both saturated and muted at the same time. It has movement and dynamism, a glossy surface texture exemplifying Montheillet’s expert use of paint. What’s so special about these pieces by him is that they were painted at the forefront of the abstract expressionist movement, before these style of paintings had become commonplace. They’re period abstract expressionist pieces! Not every piece by him that I acquired is signed but this is one of the few that is and also has a gallery stamp in verso.
