I just want to dive right into this painting and be in this magical room eating one of those oranges and listening to this girl play piano while starting wistfully out the window. I loooooove this painting so so much by Gabriel Zindel, b. 1906- 1992. This đź’Ž is another painting I sourced while in Paris. Oil on board, signed in lower left corner, circa 1940s.
Now because this is a European painting, it requires custom framing or a European frame, which I haven’t been able to source the latter. But lucky for y’all, I have a frame shop and am able to do custom framing! So, included with this painting is your choice (I couldn’t choose so I figured I’d let the buyer choose!) between one of the three mouldings in last three pictures. How fun!
“Gabriel Zendel was born January 8, 1906 in Paris. He became an active contributor to the Post-Cubist School of art and exhibited frequently in Paris and abroad during the 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s and even into the early 70s. Throughout his career Zendel became known as a painter, illustrator, engraver and ceramicist. Popular themes the artist worked with include slightly macabre clowns and circus performers and the landscapes (both rural and urban) that were most familiar to him: Paris, Bourgogne and Honfleur. Museums in Nevers, Rennes and the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris have collected the artist’s work.”
